In 1987, he was invited to a White House dinner by Ronald Reagan. Few of the guests appeared to know who he was. During dinner, Nancy Reagan turned to him and asked what he’d done with his life to merit an invitation. Straight-faced, Davis replied: “Well, I’ve changed the course of music five or six times. What have you done except fuck the president?”

I have a penpal named Chloe, the 8 year old daughter of my good friend, Zack. We write back and forth about poetry mostly. Because she is such an amazing poet, I asked her to be one of the collaborators of this long poem I’ve been slowly working on called ASTEROID, which is, essentially, a collaboration with many people I know in which I ask them to give me a line or two with the word “space” in it, and then I take it from there. This is Chloe’s contribution to that collaboration. She is one of my favorite poets right now.
so much love for this

So I was reading through Master of Reality again and Roger Painter's favorite pizza toppings really hit me hard – sausage, bell peppers, and anchovies. I remember you mentioning that pepperoni no longer makes its way onto your pizzas, so was this an old favorite of yours? I guess what I mean to ask is: where did you draw your creative inspiration for this character's pizza preference?
A lot of what I do is about the sound of the words and that’s where I’d guess this comes from - how it sounds when you say “sausage, bell peppers and anchovies.” When I’m writing I read everything out loud to make sure it sounds good that way because for me out loud is still the test of writing. I am pretty archaic in this belief I know but it’s true for me.
